Pearson VUE to Deliver The GMAT®

Pearson VUE has been selected as the prime contractor for a seven-year contract to develop and administer the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) worldwide.
The Graduate Management Admissions Council®, which offers the GMAT®, is a not-for-profit educational association, composed of leading business schools from around the world committed to creating access to graduate business education. Currently used or required by more than 1,700 graduate business programs for admission, the GMAT® is the most widely used assessment — and most reliable predictor — of a candidate’s ability to succeed academically in graduate business studies. Approximately 235,000 GMATs® are taken each year.
“The GMAT® remains the international gold-standard assessment tool for management education,” said David A. Wilson, president and CEO of the Graduate Management Admission Council®. “This partnership allows us to better serve the graduate management education community in the future by increasing global reach, advancing security measures, and providing flexible access to test information.”
Beginning January 3, 2006, the GMAT® will be available exclusively at more than 400 Pearson VUE test centers in 96 countries. As part of the agreement with the Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®), Pearson VUE will expand its network of Pearson Professional Centers (PPCs) to include more international locations in major markets throughout the world. To ensure worldwide geographical coverage, we are working to equip approximately 170 existing Pearson VUE Authorized Centers outside the United States with advanced security functionality to form a new channel called PVTC Select. The PVTC Selects will continue to deliver IT exams but will offer biometrics and digital audio and video monitoring services, like the PPCs, so that they can offer the GMAT® and other exam programs requiring advanced security.
To prepare for the launch of the GMAT® program, a one month limited summer test will be held this summer between July 15 and August 15 at 31 selected test centers. Registrations will begin on June 29 and will be limited to a specific number of candidates at each center. There will be an overall cap of 1,500 exams during this period. Registrations will begin October 3, 2005 for the first live exams which begin January 3, 2006. Exams will be four hours long and will include two essay sections and two multiple choice sections.
